Plot Synopsis, Review
After a taxi he was in crashes into a river, Dr Martin Harris wakes up in a hospital bed after being in a coma for four days. Without any id and a shoddy memory of what happened and why he was without his wife Elizabeth, he tries to track down what happened, soon realising that someone is posing as him and his wife claims to not know him.
A decent thriller. So the beginning of the film sees a tiny bit of character set-up, we soon find out that there more going on that first seemed. The flick manages to manipulate the audiences into being on Martin's side and there are many sequences of great action and also some sequences of great character building. Towards the end it gets way too predictable which makes scenes not as surprising as intended, and when you finally think the end has come, they bring out more and more complex plot details that make more sense. When the end finally comes to a close the audience is left not shocked, nor dissapointed, but I really expected more.
The plot has borrowed many elements of films before it (Single White Female being the main one), but it's an original spin on the whole identity sub-genre. It's heavily built on action sequences (which include several fight scenes and a car chase) but the fact that it's being somewhat marketed as a seuqle to Taken is just ridiculous.
The acting was great. Liam Neeson is great as Martin, and really can sway the audiences to sympathise for him. Diane Kruger played Gina, the illegal imigrant in Berlin who ends up being his sidekick, although her accent wasn't exactly great. January Jones was horrible as Mrs Harris. She has a single expression and was quite annoying.
Overall "Unknown" is a good action thriller that will keep you entertained and watching, b ut it's ending could've been alot better. My rating is 3/5.
