Plot Synopsis, Review
Four interwoven stories that occur on Halloween: An everyday high school principal has a secret life as a serial killer; a college virgin might have just met the one guy for her; a group of teenagers pull a mean prank; a woman who loathes the night has to contend with her holiday-obsessed husband.
Meh. This film has been anticipated for over two years, so when I finally got my hands on it I was expecting something really good, wondering how all the four stories might be connected. I was shocked when I didn't get the ending, nor what was with the little rag-doll dressed boy who appeared everywhere. It tries too hard to be smart and witty, but when the viewer doesn't understand, and the fast pacing between the stories is too fast, not allowing time to think, it dissapointed me. The rave reviews are one thing, and the delayed release is another, but in all honesty, I can't say that this film is anything special. While each little story had a great scene or two, I can't say they were overally great. The comical elements were there, but not providing relief.
The plot is simple, but complex. Four (More that i counted) stories on Halloween intercept and have a connection, some little boy that appears at the end of each. What was his story i'll never know. It was too predictable what was going to happen too I thought.
The acting was good. "Anna Paquin" and "Brian Cox" were the standouts. There was a wolf scene towards the end that left me surprised, but overally unsatisifed with the final product.
Overall "Trick R Treat" has an ending that I don't understand, tries too hard, and is somewhat boring, but does have some scenes of pure greatness. My rating is 2.5/5.
