Plot Synopsis, Review
A single mother goes on a one day paradise yacht trip why her song is in school. The hot sunny day suddenly becomes a horrific storm and the boat is capsized. The group finds salvation when they see a cruise ship floating in the water. When they board, they soon realise the cruise ship is not what it seems.
Bleak. The film starts off patchy, and never gives the audience time to really accept the characters and make judgment on them. We are quickly thrown into the storm which capsizes the yacht and then that's when it finally starts to intrigue. It managed to keep you guessing by playing with your mind over and over again, but it was so predictable that it lost the edge that was making it unique.
The film is Australian made, and filmed right here on the Gold Coast. While the over-use of the sets was expected, it also cheapened the experience because you were reliving the same scene over and over. The ending was a real dissapointment, giving no real closure to the story.
The acting was average. Melissa George was the best by far. She's managed to have a pretty good career in horror, starring in the critically acclaimed remake of The Amityville Horror, and also starring in other horrors Turistas, 30 Days of Night and WΔZ. Her role was definately a hard one, with all the emotions needed to make the character as realistic as possible.
Overall Triangle tries real hard to come out fresh and exciting but falls flat with repetative sequences and predictability. My rating is 2/5.
