Plot Synopsis, review
Lawrence Talbot, a haunted nobleman, is lured back to his family estate after his brother vanishes. Reunited with his estranged father, Talbot sets out to find his brother... and discovers a horrifying destiny for himself. Talbot's childhood ended the night his mother died. After he left the sleepy Victorian hamlet of Blackmoor, he spent decades recovering and trying to forget. But when his brother's fiancée, Gwen Conliffe, tracks him down to help find her missing love, Talbot returns home to join the search. He learns that something with brute strength and insatiable bloodlust has been killing the villagers, and that a suspicious Scotland Yard inspector named Aberline has come to investigate.
Horrible. I've gotta say, the anticipation I had for this film and high hopes were slaughtered seeing this. It was extremely boring, depressing and it's story was simple to say the least. It prided itself on giving us cheap scares, and while it succeeded, that was the only time it jolts the audience with adrenaline. Beautifully shot, every scene was a excellent example of a good setting. The film's texture almost seemed gritty, but the over-the-top and fake looking CGI of the men turning into wolves was another fault in the already flawed film. When turned, the wolves actually were laughable at, they just looked like angry costumes. The ending was so predictable and just another big bore. Tha narration at the end that I presume was to make you think failed because no one really cared by the end. The death scenes and gore weren't as good as I was expecting either.
The film is a remake of the 40's classic of the same name. Without seeing the original, I think I can safely say that it is most likely similar. The plot was so simple and after thirty minutes had nothing fresh to keep us going, so we were just waiting and waiting through it;s boring and uninteresting dialogue for something to happen.
The acting was average. "Anthony Hopkins" I can't take seriously. He's a good actor, but everytime I see him I think "Hannibal Lecter". "Emily Blunt" is an extremely good looking gurl, but her role in this isn't memorable or interesting. She tried to be the heroine, then ran away, then tried again.
Overall "The Wolfman" is a boring and depressing remake that's anticipation was wasted. My rating is 2/5.
