Plot Synopsis, Review
The Princess and the Frog finds the lives of arrogant, carefree Prince Naveen and hardworking waitress Tiana crossing paths. Prince Naveen is transformed into a frog by a conniving voodoo magician and Tiana, following suit, upon kissing the amphibian royalty. With the help of a trumpet-playing alligator, a Cajun firefly, and an old blind lady who lives in a boat in a tree, Naveen and Tiana must race to break the spell and fulfill their dreams
Watchable. Every "Disney" film has a certain likeability to it, and for me personally, it's classic-hand drawn animation. It's a throwback to when "Disney" wasn't computer animated and bright. Although it's a new edition to the "Princess" series, I think it's the first one to also have factors that little boys will like too. It had witty characters, one's that each gender would love, and also had heart and a good ending which every fairytale should. There wass also some adult humour for the adults to devour as it was limited being a kids film, and the whole film's characters and dialogue was modern and not 20th century Britian and classy. It's perfect for playing in the background, like if your kid is in bed trying to sleep, it's one of the movies where they can fall asleep to it.
The plot was an adaption of a book i'm pretty sure, and if it was, it modernised the dialogue, characters and ending. The cinema was full of little kids when I saw this, and the villian character definately scared one kid that had a little cry towards the end. I also think the scenes were it was supposed to be funny weren't successful because no one in the audience laughed except for my fake and over-the-top one.
Overall "The Princess and the Frog" is the latest "Princess" film that surprisingly intrigues both genders with likeable characters and modern dialogue. My rating is 3/5.
