Plot Synopsis, Review
Strange blue aircrafts hover in the sky, pulling people up into their ships. Are they aliens?. A group of friends fight for survival against the apocalypse.
Crap. The film was shit. The trailer made it look like a masterpiece but it was a giant bore. Films like this either have to be very original or tongue-in-cheek, and this tries to be too serious but it just mimics man films before it. Cloverfield was original, Escape From New York was original, but all this managed to do was have a confusion from the audience. The ending wasn't exactly predictable, but it was so unbelievable (in a bad way) that you would never have expected it to happen. The creatures were great to look at, especially because the flick was low-budget but it seems no heart or integrity was in-line to keep the film from being a major burn-out.
The plot wasn't majorly original, but I guess you could say this time of apocalyptic group of creatures hadn't invaded our screens yet. A few major things were left out of the film. WHY are the creatures here, WHAT do they want, and WHERE did they come from. Nothing was explained which left me pissed off because you cant have a film like this and not explain anything. The characters were really annoying, none being likeable so I didn't really care when and if they got taken.
The acting was below-average. When you have a bunch of no-name and small actors in a film, make sure you get a group that's capable of bringing their character to life. Eric Balfour played Jarryd, and he was so manipulated by everyone and unable to make his own decisions, not a good personality for the big hero. Scottie Thompson (yes, a woman) played Elaine who is Jarryd's parnter and also pregnant. She was so sooky for no reason at the beginning and all wrapped up in herself. Donald Faison from TV's Scrubs was just an arrogant douchebag, and Brittany Daniel was the high-maintenance bitch everyone was waiting for to die.
Overall "Skyline" is boring and leaves every question unanswered. The acting was shit with the only good thing being the creature effects. My rating is 1/5.
