Plot Synopsis, Review
A group of strangers wake up in a forest of wilderness. They quickly realise they are being hunted by impossible creatures, and must fight for life.
Average. I really don't know what I expected going into this. I haven't seen the original series, or the Alien vs Predator films, so I was only expecting the Predators to be viciously killing the characters. It was an average film, managing to keep me intrigued and watching, but it's 100% predictability and endless cliches were eye-rolling material. The visual effects were great, the CGI wasn't clearly animated. For some reason, the film seemed blurry in some sequences. As far as action / sci-fi films go, this isn't the best, nor the worst. It manages to keep you entertained and watching.
The plot is a remake of Predator 2 (which no one seems to like), and i'm glad you didn't have to see the original for the plot to make sense. The character work was great. Each character had a likeability (apart from one), but it was always apparent when someone was about to be killed. I didn't like the ending, it was left open which was okay, but unless the survivors are in a sequel, it was useless.
The acting was good. Adrien Brody' played the leader of the group, taking charge and order quite well, his facial expression always seemed to be puzzled which was quite annoying sometimes. 'Alice Braga' was great. Her character had heart and was really likeable, as was 'Topher Grace's' (for the most part), he seemed to be the comic relief.
Overall "Predators" is a high action flick that keeps you enetertained and watching, but its extreme predictability and cliche's kept it from something special. My rating is 3/5.
