PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 2
Official Site:
Cast: Katie Featherston Rating: M for Horror Themes and Coarse Language Tagline: Do Not See It Alone... Theatrical Release: October 21, 2010 Retail Release: February 24, 2011 BOX OFFICE: Just like it's preceeder, the flick debuts at #1 in Australia. The original flick debuted at #1 last December with $2.7 million, and it's sequel was only 2% behind with a $2,665,028 gross. If it continues to be on par with it's preceeding flick (and maybe another week at #1 too, but not likely) it should expect a 40% dip. The flick will fight for audiences as two horrors open in coming weeks. A 44% dip 2nd weekend was similar to what I expected, and the film should be able to reach $6m by it's end. |
Plot Synopsis, Review
A few months after giving birth to a son, strange things start to happen at the home of Kristi, Dan and his daughter Ali. They place cameras throughout the house and soon discover these strange comings aren't just a coincidence.
Bland. Just like it's preceeder, the flick is heavily boring because it takes so long to build up the tension which isn;t nececarrily needed to scare you. Every scare you expect coming within a minute or so, but when exactly it comes is just part of the thrill that awaits you, and when it hits you you will jumo right out of your seat. It's a damn shame the film is so repetative and slow because it's scares (which are pretty good) can't pull it through. Yes, it's better than it's preceeder, but not by much.
The film was quickly planned and filmed after the original became a worldwide success, and it's pretty surprising it had great references to the original, and that as being a prequel had no plot holes.
The acting was good and realistic. It was good to see that Katie Featherston and Micah Sloat from the first flick are back too. The flick somewhat leaves and opening for number 3, although they would be stretching it abit too far plot-wise.
Overall "Paranormal Activity 2" has genuine scares that make you jump right out of your seat, but it's really slow pacing and boredom factor leaves us adrenalised for way too long waiting to be scared. My rating is 2.5/5
