Theatrical Release: August 20, 2009 (Scrapped) DVD Release: September 17, 2009 INFO: For some reason, this $60 million dollar US grossing hit was scrapped from Australian Theatrical Release. Some say that it was because Interracial couples don't settle cwell with Australian viewers (I highly doubt it), and others say that thee negative reception was the other answer, but in my humble opinion, this film would've been a hit mainly because it has superstar Beyonce Knowles in it. Plot Synopsis, Review
Derek Charles is a hard working man, employed as a asset manager in a private company. He is very happy with his beautiful wife, Sharon, and only son, and because of his hard work he just got a huge promotion. But suddenly he gets a temporary worker who is both attractive and smart, and Derek is understandably impressed with her and also finds himself physically drawn to her. However, this new girl is desperate to get close to him - at any cost.
Fun. From the trailer, you always know what the ending will be, but that doesn't stop you from going into this film with no expectations. It was able to successfully make the audience uncomfortable with awkward sequences, and yet even when the sheer predictability of the end catfight was done, we were still high on adrenaline. It is fun and is able to make us want to hit certain characters, and also make us relate to others.
The plot is decent. From the simple premise, they had to extend it for a feature length film, and they managed to do it with entertaining dialogue scenes and sequences of awkward relatability.
The acting was great. "Ali Larter" was the highlight, playing the obsessed blonde. She plays a mental character so well. "Idris Elba" was another highlight, and was very realistic in the situation. "Beyonce Knowles" was the wife, and played diva when it came down to messin' with her life.
Overall "Obsessed" is a fun and intriguing thriller. My rating is 3/5.
