Plot Synopsis Review
The sadistic members of a villianous family return to their childhood home and start torturing the new owners and their party guests.
This movie is definately a sick one. After watching it bumped along the release schedule a few times I knew it would get shelved direct-to-DVD, and what a shame. The film has some awesome death scenes, a disturbed family, and the titular mother is one evil bitch. From the twenty minute mark the film's pace starts to pick up and it never slows down. With so many characters, it was anyones guess who would actually die or survive in the family's twisted games.
The film is a loose remake of the 80s film of the same name, and they really do not share much in common. Although the film had many characters, it did manage to give each one of them a little background throughout the progress of the film and let the audience decide whether they liked them or not. The ending was a clencher, and it really changes your mind about a certain character.
The acting was great. Rebecca De Mornay is terrific as Mother/Natalie. She hasn't been this twisted since The Hand That Rocked The Cradle two decades ago. Briana Evigan, Jaime King, and Matt O'Leary also co-starred. There was even cameo's by Alexa Vega and A.J Cook to top things off.
Overall Mother's Day is a sick and twisted remake, that as soon as it gets going it never lets up. My rating is 3.5/5.
