THE INCREDIBLE JOURNEY OF MARY BRYANT
Plot Synopsis, Review
Mary, a young woman in Great Britian in the 1700's, is convited 7 years transportation to Australia for stealing some bread. Raped on the ship over, giving birth, she meets William, and they get married, and have another child within 3 years, but Mary and William soon get sick of no crops growing, and there source of food has been taken from them, and they decide they must get out before they have to watch the children starve to death, but escaping isn't as easy as you would think it would be.
Moving. As a 2-part tele-movie, this is a very touching story of mother doing all she can for her kids. It starts off a little rocky, but by the time the cast reaches Australia, the film takes a positive turn, and we are enticed with tension, action, and edge-of-seat realness. The last scene was disgraceful, it was like the film turned from a heart-warming story... to 'the Sound of Music"
It's a very intriguing story, and is loosely based on the events and story of "Mary Bryant", a cornish convict. A very complex and likeable set of characters, with majorty getting sympathy from me. The film successfully kept the viewer entertained until the last five minutes.
The acting was good. British accents are hard for me to sit through, but the cast was great. The role of Mary Bryant would be hard to do, but the actress successfully gave the role the realism it needed.
Overall "The Incredible Journey of Mary Bryant" is an intriguing and moving story. My rating is 3/5.
