Plot Synopsis, Review
Susie Salmon and her family seemed to have a great life, until one day Susie was murdered. As she watches down from a paradise between heaven and earth, her family eachhs their wn way of deaing with the murder. Her father is finding it unbearable, wanting to find out who woul hurt his angel. As months go by, even Susie's younger sister Lindsey suspects who the murderer might be.
Long. This film was just way to long. Going for a lengthy 2hrs, the film doesn't gain all your attenion until an hour in. The story is narrated by the murdered 14y.o Salmon girl, and many scenes and sequences I felt didn't really need to be in the film. Even the ending is extremely dissapointing because I was expecting something heartwarming, yet we only got a slight inkling of it.
The plot is a film adaption of a best-selling book of the same name, and even without reading it can say that the book would be more powerful. This film was emotinally draining, which I was expecting, but not to the degree it was. The characters were really likeable and we felt sympathetic towards them, which is a major plus.
The acting was good. "Mark Wahlberg" played the father, and was great. "" played the paedophilic murder, who definately pulls off a paedophile. "" played Susie, and she was actually really good to watch. The transformation of her character was pulled off well.
Overall "The Lovely Bones" isn't as great as I was expecting, goes for too long, and is too emotinally draining. My rating is 2/5.
