Plot Synopsis, Review
Nerdy, reserved bookworm Needy and arrogant, conceited cheerleader Jennifer are best friends, though they share little in common. They share even less in common when Jennifer mysteriously gains an appetite for human blood after a disastrous fire at a local bar. As Needy's male classmates are steadily killed off in gruesome attacks, the young girl must uncover the truth behind her friend's transformation and find a way to stop the bloodthirsty rampage before it reaches her own boyfriend Chip.
Unimpressive. I was expecting this to be a comical intended splatter fest, but we never really actually saw anyone die, just saw their lifeless bodies, and they weren't that gorey either. I was majorly underimpressed when my favourite line from the trailer wasn't even featured in the film. "Your killing people"..."No, i'm killing Boys" is definately a selling point to the movie, but she killed only a few boys, and that scene with that line wasn't even featured in the movie which pissed me off. It took way way too long to get into the action, and finally started after 45 minutes. The ending was to be expected, and the use of the word "salty" to descirbe a extremely beautiful person was poison to my ears. The comical side never kicked in, and when something is being marketed as "horror comedy", and there's no comical scenes, I got more underimpressed.
The plot is an alternative take on the whole "demon sub-genre", and you would expect that there would be extentions on that side of things, and scenes featured on the trailer intended to intrigue, were too short and too unsatisfying. The dialogue was modern, apart from "salty", and high school students were definately familiar (in real-life, not cinema life).
The acting was watchable. "Megan Fox" being the stunning and mysterious star. Her character definately walked all over her BFF, and "Fox" plays the bitchy scrag character so well (She must be experienced). "Amanda Seyfried" was the best friend, and seemingly expressionless in most scenes, and even as she got closer and closer death, her expression still didn't much change. Overall "Jennifer's Body" was marketed as "horror comedy", which it isn't, and fails to keep you satisfied when your not visually seeing people getting killed, and not having scenes over-used in trailers to make you see the film. My rating is 2.5/5.
