Plot Synopsis, Review
A teenage son of the king of a viking village is frowned upon by everyone. He doesn't seem to be like the vikings, and this makes his father very dissapointed. He soon befriends a dragon that no man has seen and lived to tell off, and they become companions in turning dragons and humans as allies, not enemies.
Good. The film is another family movie cliche. A trouble character ends up isolated but hides a secret that would turn everyone against them. They then become the most popular person, but are for an instant hated again when the secret is revealed. A happy ending follows which was enough to make me eyes roll, but it was a good and entertaining film. The 3D was excellent, and sometimes it felt like I was there. The climatic ending was an exciting 10 minutes that had me literally yelling at the characters.
The plot was solid, and it's comical elements were pulled off successfully. The relationship between the dragon (who main character Hiccup calls Toothless) was truly an inspirtational story. The scene where they eventually connect as a whole was masterfully scored to give the audience a heart-warming emotion.
The animation was top-notch, and the 3D was even better. Some scenes felt like they were coming right at you, with the fire-breathing dragons flames so close. It's definately a great kids movie that will be enjoyed also by the whole family.
Overall "How To Train Your Dragon 3D" gives us thrills and excitement and is an enjoyable 3D adventure. My rating is 3/5.
