Plot Synopsis, Review
It's Spring Break and the college kids just wanna party. When they charter a boat to take them to a rave on a nearby Island, they arrive only to find it deserted... that is except for the bloodthirsty zombies that have completely inhabited the Island. Their only hope for survival is to win the final battle with whatever weapons they can find... in the House of the Dead.
Utter shit. In my opinion, film adaptions from games should try to be better than the game, but this film was effortless in being a piece of shit. Every few minutes a 1 second flash of gameplay taken from the actual videogame itself flashed upon the screen, which really pissed me off, because YEs wqe get it, it's based on a game. This movie tried so hard (just like other film adaption Mortal Kombat) to be just like the game that in the end we didn't really give a shit what happened because we were so bored. The characters magically paused and done tricks, the deaths were predictable and fake, and worst of all... the ending was the biggest load of shit ever.
The plot is based on Sega's best selling video game of the same name, and I can tell you right now your better off wasting your money on the game than the film. The characters moved like game characters, and the totally unrealistic scene where A huge box of guns and ammo were smuggled onto the Island was so cliche and ridiculous I felt like walking away and not coming back. The characters were idiodic telling the others "I can handle these ones" when one-by-one they all got killed by them. What possesed some writer and director to do this film is beyond me, because it is one of the worst films around. The zombie's can't die unless there head is cut off, and because they can swim I immediately thought they would swim somewhere off the Island and infect the world, but no... that didn't happen.
The acting was terrible. It was like the cast were reading from cards directly beside the camera, and they were so unlikably pathetic in their attempts to act the hero. The acting was just the cherry-on-top for the film which was never able to entertain me.
Overall "House of the Dead" provides nothing new, tries to hard to BE the game it's based on, and with bad acting and characters the film is one rubbish bin of shitness. My rating is 0/5. NO ONE should ever have to sit through this movie, enough said.
