Plot Synopsis, Review
Eleven year old Harry is whisked away to Hogwarts where he discovers he is a wizard. He alongside friends Ron and Hermione think the school is amazing, and learn some secrets along the way.
Harry Potter is one of those childhood films that will be cherished by millions. I remember seeing it at my local cinema which closed down several years later. The film is pure magic. It's a movie that is enjoyed by adults and children alike, and mixes horror elements with kid-friendly action scenes. It's definately a movie that doesn't out-stay it's welcome after it's lengthy run-time and it leaves you wanting more and more. The appeal is definately widespread with all kids because of the fantasy that there is this magical world with witches and wizards, both good and bad.
The film was adapted from a big selling book franchise by J.K Rowling, and it's as visually stunning as exciting. The film has it all with unicorns, ghosts, talking hats and a three headed dog. Majority of the characters are likeable and you almost feel like you're right there with them.
The acting is great. Newcombers Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint are great as the three best friends, and even with some high class veterans Maggie Smith and Richard Harris even get starring roles.
Overall the first Harry Potter film is definately one of the best in the series, and I cannot see anyone who would dislike the film. My rating is 4/5.
