Plot Synopsis, review
t's the night of Halloween two years after his murderous rampage through Haddonfield, and Michael is back to finish what he started, and guided by his ghostly mother and child self, he will kill anyone that gets in his way.
Bland. The first film was an outstanding remake, and I was expecting nothing less for the sequel, but was quite dissapointed with the way it turned out. The fil;m was full of dreams, flashbacks and even some hallucination sequences which tore away from the plot, and while the remake managed to have a sense of fun about it, this one failed when it tried. The death and gore was amped up in this one, but there was only one or two death scenes that were superior to the remakes. There is a scene in the movie, aswell as the ending that honestly made me almost get a tear in my eye. Hardly ever does a movie like this reel you in so close and break you apart when one scene is so horrible (as in sad, not bad) that you just feel sympathy, but this succeeded in doing so.
The plot takes place directly after the 2007 remake finished, and after a few minutes, a whole 20 minutes of scene turn out to be a dream scene, and that really pissed me off. For a 2 hour film that is somewhat boring, you can't have a dream sequence taking place for that long unless you're Freddy Krueger. The character relationship between Laurie Strode and former best friend Annie Bracket two ytears on is rocky, and it was a realistic and great way to have the films core survivors from the previous films on bad terms. The fact that Laurie is seeing a therapist and is slightly mental shows that her character is still not over the incident. What I really disliked about the plot was the whole supernatural / ghostly figures of Michael's moher dressed in white with peroxide white hair and with a white horse, and young Michael beside her. Their presence in the film wasn't needed.
The acting was good. "Scout Taylor-Compton" starred as "Laurie Strode", and she successfully makes you sympathise with her. "Danielle Harris" returned as "Annie Brackett", "Brad Dourif" as "Sheriff Bracket", and "Tyler Mane" as "Michael". "Malcolm McDowell" is "Dr. Loomis", and was able to make us hate him with his selfish, greedy money-making schemes.
Overall "Halloween II" fails to live up to ewxpecations set by the it's remake preceeder, and is slightly boring with too many dream sequences. My rating is 2.5/5.
