Plot Synopsis, Review
When a new neighbour moves in next day, a teenage boy must fight for his life to save the population from the vicious vampire next door trying to turn everyone into them.
The latest in remakes, Fright Night also uses 3D (not needed at all) to add to
the experience. The movie was fun and hilarious at times, and was thoroughly
enjoyable throughout, but one thing i disliked was that it was so predictable.
Timing in at 100mins, the flick often at times got a little too over-the-top
with comedy, and not balancing it with scares. Speaking of the "scares", there
was no balance at all. When having comedy in a horror film you need to rely on
jump scares but it just didn's work. The sequences of battle was excellent to
watch, and it was gory and had some great visual effects too.
The plot is a loose remake of cult classic Fright Night from the 80s. I loved the setting in
the film, the middle of the desert lies a little suburb where a vampire lives
next door to the lead character. There was some nail-biting moments and a few
unexpected incidents, but it's predictability is a factor that leaves the viewer
a tiny bit dissapointed.
The acting was great. When I first heard Colin Farrell and Toni Collette had signed onto the film, I was surprised, but they both did a fantastic job. Colin was great as Jerry the vampire, and Toni was funny as the mother of lead character Charley, played excellently by Anton
Yelchin.
Overall Fright Night 3D is a enjoyable remake thats loads of
fang. My rating is 3/5.
