Plot Synopsis, Review
While videotaping therapy sessions with traumatized patients in October 2000, psychologist Dr. Abigial Tyler unwittingly exposes terrifying revelations of multiple victims whose claims of being visited by alien figures all share disturbingly identical details.
Strange. A very motivated and provocative thriller, the film starts off being introduced by actress Milla Jovovich stating the film is just a re-enactment of archived footage and audio recordings (which are also played during the film). That opening just made me wanna turn it off. To me it just seemed like the new way of trying to get people to believe it was "real", and yet I still doubt it is. I will admit that the film absolutely scared the shit out of me on several occasions with it's "real" video and audio recordings. Alien's are a very scary concept for me, so watching a film that claims to use real footage (even if I don't believe it) is horrible (in a scary way) to watch. It takes probably an hour to get into the real spooky stuff, and thats when the terrifying events take place. The ending also featured Milla Jovovich and another co-star stating "In the end, believe what you want" or something along those lines, and then we get the summary of what's happened to the people since the event.
The plot is a re-enactment of events that are claimed to have happened in October 2000. Throughout the film we are given footage and audio recording's which are proposed as real, and even if they're not, the film succeed's in scaring the utter fuck out of it's audience for at least one point in the film.
The acting was good. "Milla Jovovich" unemotionally played the emotionless Abigial Tyler, so she was great at it. The "real" Abigail which was shown in an interview talked through her teeth, but lets all thank Jovovich she decided to move those white pearls of hers so we could understand what she was saying.
Overall "The Fourth Kind" is a spooky and at some points terrifying thriller that claims to be "real", and whether you believe it or not, is successful in keeping you watching towards the end. My rating is 2.5/5.
