Plot Synopsis, Review
After scaping from near death Donnie darko, a delusional high school student, is vistied by a demonic rabbit with eerie visions of the past, and deadly predictions for the future.
Excellent. I love this movie. It keeps you intrigued, entertained for the whole screen time with the plot, sub-plot and characters. It's a very intelligent and extremely witty and charismatic movie that without an eye for detail and brain power, you have no chance of understanding. The climx towards the end was brilliantly executed and is powerful emotionallty and physically for the brain. I must admit that upon hearing the premise I was thrown back a little because it sounded takcy, but the film is a real winner and an must-see. It combines smarts with logic and has so many scenes of brilliantness in both dialogue, plot and acting. The ending was a little hard to consume but after thinking for a few moments, it comes together perfectly.
The plot is excellent. "Richard Kelly" can write one hell of a good story, and it was so well made. The film gives so much away, but at the exact same time gives nothing away. It manages to successfully keep you stuck wherever you were at the start of the film, and keeping your eyes peeled for the entrie running time. The line between what's reality, and what's delusional is portrayed heavily and crafted amazingly.
The acting was great. "Jake Gyllenhall" was amazing as "Donnie Darko" himself. He was successfully wiewrd but intelligent, and pulls of a whacko awesomely. "Jena Malone", "Drew Barrymoore" and "Patrick Swayze" characters meant so much to the plot, and all three were pulled off greatly.
Overall "Donnie Darko" is an amazing masterpiece that keeps you entertained the whole way through, and has an amazing ending. It's a film that is definately worthy of it's praise. My rating is 4.5/5. It's a must-see.
