Plot Synopsis, Review
A bird-flu like epidemic has hit the world, and whoever infected will without a doubt, die. A group of four are travelling to Turtle Beach which was abandoned many years ago. Will they survive, or will their lack of fuel and pitstops get them infected?
Average. The flick is intriguing, but burns out pretty quickly. It tries too many attempts at mixing fun and dry humour within the post apocalyptic situation, and it failed everytime. The group of four were two brothers, one of their girlfriends and another girl who's relationship with the other brother was never fully revealed until the end. It never scared the vfiewer, or never seemed to try, the lack of suspense and tension was a buzz-kill, and like with most of these disease epidemic films, the disease's cause is never revealed or cured, which can sometimes cause persuasion in my opinion. The ending was irritating. So by the end, there is two left, and basically the narration of the character says it all, that the cure and cause is unknown (or revealed anyway).
The plot is the same as any other end-of-the-population flicks, with the small group of survivors having their own little dilemma deep within themselves. Something ridiculous was that there was seemingly the two main characters, and one of them was never seen again (still alive the last time we saw them) after 45 minutes and there was never a conclusion to them. I felt cheated too because I sat through their little problems throughout, and never getting an insight on what happened in the future was a little annoying. Even an unessecary open-ending would be better than the actual ending.
the acting was good. 'Chris Pine' played the older brother, and 'Piper Perabo' played his girlfriend. their relationship was believable, and both can range between different emotions well. 'Emily Van Camp' and 'Lou Taylor Pucci' played the younger brother and the other girl to be irritating characters. They sooked and complained alot, expected in that type of situation, but when they don't take a likeable turn towards the end it's dissapointing.
Overall "Carriers" has a promising premise, but the scrappy ending and unsuspenseful potential sequences leaves the viewer dissapointed. My rating is 2/5.
