Plot Synopsis, Review
A young girl, Rachel, witnesses her best friend commt suicide at school. She soon
discovers she has the ability to move objects with her mind. Soon after, she is
fo unknown reasons suddenly taken under the most popular girls in schools wing,
but it's all just a horrible prank.
I love a good teen horror flick. Especially when it's a sequel, but this one is
pretty much a modernised take on the original 79' flick Carrie. The first half
an hour was quite good and fun, but as the film progressed and the plot
thickened, it seemed to go too overboard with comedy and the audience doesn't
really care anymore. THe highlight of the entire flick is the ending, the climax
where Rachel loses her shit is a great. Special effects were good
too.
The plot is just a sequel to the acclaimed 1979 flick Carrie. Rachel
(who has a connection to Carrie) has telakenesis, the ability to move objects
with her mind. Its simple and effective at some points, but lacks more scenes of
moving objects. I did like the references to the original, with Rachel being
taken to the site of the original high school (extremely burnt, but still
standing).
The acting was mostly bad. I really hate it when people who
like like they are in their late 20s to late 30s play teenagers. It's just
really unrealistic. Emily Bergl was good as Rachel, the lead character. Jason
London was also good as the love interest. Mena Suvari (was she in bloody
everything back in those years) also had a short appearence.
Overall The Rage: Carrie 2 is an average teen horror flick that loses the audience after
half and hour. My rating is 2.5/5.
