Plot Synopsis, Review
Days after a killer virus consumed his friends, Paul emerges from the river with hopes of surviving and warning others, but is killed before he has the chance. "Down Home Water" is a popular brand that uses the rive as it's supply, and it's been distributed to the local high school prom. Little does anyone know that drinking it will give you a skin disease.
Shit. This film has been delayed for a few years, but it honestly wasn't as bad as I was expecting. It had many attempts to have comical effect mixed in, something the original film done so well, but it failed miserably. The opening cartoon credit sequence was just the start of the dissapointing effects that led to a dissapointing ending. It took to long to get into the school breaking out into the disease, and by the time it did the film was already getting crapper by the minute. The blood and gore was excellent, many sequences making me cringe, but that doesn't make up for the tacky characters and slow pacing.
The plot is an extention to the hit 2002 flick "Cabin Fever", which was "Eli Roth's" debut film. this time there was a different director, and a very different experience. The first had the isolated setting, suspense and tension, and it's comical elements fitted in. It's sequel was just a complete mess. The ending was somewhat left opened, with the disease spreading. The characters were all annoying and unlikeable, and I was just waited for them to die.
The acting was better than I was expecting. The trailer makes the acting look horrible, but "Noah Segan" and "Alexi Wasser" were actual believable in their roles as the two leads. "Ride Strong" makes a cameo, reprising his role as Paul.
Overall "Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever" is too slow to get into the virus scenes, tries unsuccessfully to be funny and has a bunch of unlikeable characters. It is a step way below it's preceeder. My rating is 2/5.
