Plot Synopsis, Review
In 1979 Jimmy Bones was betrayed and brutally murdered by corrupt cop Lupovich and others. Now 20 years later, he's been brought back and is looking to even the score.
Fun. It's funny, for a film that's premise is about the guy named "Jimmy Bones", he comes back to "life" when there's 20 minutes left. The film's setup and flashbacks provided good entertainment, while the colour of the blood (Extremely light red, it looked like paint) was obviously fake and a little dissapointing. I liked the whole ghetto/black stereotypical vibe going on, and the film provided us with many laughs, from a dog burping maggots to a group of black teens commenting on fried chicken. The ending was slightly confusing, I'm not even sure what the jist was in the last few seconds.
The plot was refreshing. A new take on the revenge-supernatural themed films. While this isn't straight out supernatural, it has some defining supernatural scenes. I never got scared, but the tension was there, but it failed in making us jump. The characters were very likeable, even the villian Jimmy Bones was likeable which I found to be surprising.
The acting was good. "Snoop Dogg" played villian "Jimmy Bones", and he was surprisingly likeable and a good actor. "Khalil Kain" (Son of one of the killers) and "Bianca Lawson" (Daughter of Jimmy Bones) were good, being relatable at some of their sub-plot scenes. "Pam Grier" was the obvious star, playing the wife, and unwilling accessorie to his murder. She was relatable, and we were sympathetic to her.
Overall "Bones" has a good cast, good story and satisfying deaths, but the unrealistic coloured blood, and confusing ending leave me unsatisfied. My rating is 2.5/5.
