Plot Synopsis, Review
Patrick Batemen is dead, but his evil legacy lives on in the body of Rachel Newman, the only victim who managed to escape Bateman's grasp. However, she did not remain unscathed from the encounter, instead, Rachael has developed an obsession with serial killers. College is competitive for every student, and Rachael is no exepction. She will get rid of anyone who stands in her way of her goal of becoming the teaching assistant of the infamous Dr. Daniels, a professor and former FBI profiler. The rigors of surviving college life can be challenging to a beautiful young co-ed like Rachael.
Average. The film was definately watchable, and had potential to be a great film, but I think what makes it less than good, is the main fact that it was too caught up in being over-the-top intelligent, and sometimes not letting the audience catch up in, until a while later. The deaths weren't as great as they coud've been, and I don't think that when college students, along with a teacher get murdered, not a single person gets suspicious. The mood was set from get-to, the brainless minds of the "smart kids" was tacky, and the way the characters were too up-themselves was just irritating, yet the film was still watchable, but undeniably pretentious. The ending was too predictbable, as was many scenes, and I felt the climax was too dry for my taste.
The plot is, a sequel to hit "American Psycho", and having not seen the original, it was great that it was summed up so we didn't have to watch it before we watched the sequel. It was a psychological thriller, and i'm guessing it could've easily been an original film, not being a sequel, which would make it more deemable.
The acting was average. "Mila Kunis" was the star, and she was very manipulative, but even watching her in the film, it was annoying that the other characters didn't realise she was psycho just by talking too her, which just shows how ignorant the character work for the film was. "Lindy Booth" had a supporting role, and was mediocre in her attempt at being "too-hot".
Overall "American Psycho II" is watchable, and psychotic, but the characters are idiots, and there are more low-lights, than there are high-lights. My rating is 2.5/5.
