Plot Synopsis, Review
3 couples. 2 killers. Numerous victims. On a beautiful Hawaiin island, newlywed couples have been murdered. Now when three couples can only suspect eachother, who are the killers, and what do they want?.
Mediocre. The film started off really strong, giving us a glimpse of each character and their story, which expanded as the film went on. It was fun and intriguing for a while, but it seemed the deeper the couples went into the wilderness, the thicker the plot got. After the heavy buildup the killers were revealed, which prompted a 5 minute flashback of clues and information etc, which was informing but a little off-putting. The ending was predictable, something majority of the film was great in not being.
Tge plot was paced brilliantly, building up to the twist near the end, even if was quite flat for 20 minutes or so. It was great in keeping you guessing who the killers were, dialogue was cleverly used to twist your decision consistently. The only confusing element of the plot wass the motive. I was left thinking I knew why, but then it didn't really make sense.
The acting was goo.d 'Milla Jovoich' and 'Steve Zanh' played the couple with the most screen-time, the leads. They were good as a couple, believable too. 'Chris Hemsworth' and 'Marley Shelton' were the white-trash couple, believable to a tee. 'Timothy Olyphant' and 'Kiele Sanchez' were great too, able to twist the viewers mind.
Overall, "A Perfect Getaway" has scenes of great psychological brainwork for the viewer, but it flatlines several times and has a dissapointing ending. My rating is 2.5/5.
